I'M PRAYING FOR YOU: How to pray for others.

I once shared this post on WhatsApp a while back. I just felt I put it here too. I hope it blesses you as it did me. I've edited it a little bit to include new things I've learnt since then.

Yesterday a friend asked me:

What do people mean when the say 'pray for me' or even 'I am praying for you😅?' What exactly is their spirit man asking for?

It wasn't a trick question... just something for us to meditate on together 😊

Also you realize that Paul did it consistently without ceasing. . . so what is the mystery behind "pray for you" especially if it is a fellow believer. . . after all, they have the Great Intercessor abiding in them; so they should be able to pray for themselves and God will hear them. Right?😅

Let's look at this together: (you might need to read this slowly or out loud, to a friend maybe... )

Ephesians 1:15-16 

Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, DO NOT CEASE  to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers:

Notice what the prayer entails:

1. do not cease to give thanks for you

2. making mention of you in my prayers:

. . . notice the colon (after prayers), a colon is used to define or expound the statement that has just been made.

Vs 17-19

a) that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF HIM

b) the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may KNOW

i) what is the hope of His calling,

ii) what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and

iii) what [is] the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power

A little fun fact about that power:

Vs 20-23 

which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead😱 and seated [Him] at His right hand in the heavenly [places,]😱 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all [things] under His feet, and gave Him [to be] head over all [things] to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

And imagine that power is now working in you😱?

When someone √ receives wisdom, revelation, understanding, enlightment, √ knows their calling plus its hope, √ knows their rich and glorious inheritance in Christ, √ knows the power of God and how much it has and can do. . . what else can they ask for🤔. . . 😀they already have that thing and even if it has not yet manifested, knowing the above👆🏽  is enough to generate the faith to receive😀. . .

and we know that: NOW faith is the substance/MATERIAL of things hoped for . . .👂🏾ehe. . . evidence. . .👏good...

There are times God will give the answer to the prayerer and sometimes the prayee😬. . . How does the prayerer weigh whether what they received is from God. So they are not scared to share with the prayee? 

Those 5 points👆 :

• Is the answer helping the person know God more,
• Is it aligning them with divine calling/ purpose,
• Does it reveal the riches of the glory. . . and greatness of God's power. . .

Back to point (a) 👆

The spirit of wisdom and revelation IN the KNOWledge of HIM. . . 

The things we pray for come as you know God a particular way. E.g provision comes when you know God is a provider and IN that knowing you get a revelation on how to manifest it e.g it could be a business idea or through someone you ought to meet etc. (See this post: And His Name Shall Be, where we saw the power of knowing who God is to you.)

. . . So, it looks like the key here is, the KNOWLEDGE OF HIM. . . how do you get to know God?:

1. Stalk God on his Facebook pages: The Bible😜 read, study, meditate then check up any details you may have left out.
2. Meet up with Him and ask questions: You have His Spirit inside you. Let Him reveal Him to you. Remembering that. . . hearing comes by the Word (refer point 1).
3. Listen to what others know about Him: sermons, books, music, church, fellowship, blogs😉  etc
4. Share with others too what you know about Him. It can be through fellowship (with fellow brethren and sistren😉 ) or through evangelism: yeah, the more you give the more you receive😊
5. Do not cease to constantly prayze for yourself and also your loved ones this prayer in Ephesians 1:17-20. Someone once said, "Whatever was a constant prayer to Paul should be a constant prayer to you as well in this dispensation more than ever."

So with that,

🙏🏽 I pray that you, God's Artwork, continue in  your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints. I will not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in you, and what [is] the exceeding greatness of His power toward you who believes🙏🏽

. . . who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated [Him] at His right hand in the heavenly [places,] far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

If there is anything oppressing you today, may you realize that You are His body and that all other things have been put under His feet so that means they are under you too😊
