21/40 DAY PRAYER AND FASTING + BOOK REVIEW (A common sense guide to fasting - Kenneth E. Hagin)

Every year many Churches set aside a few days in January-February to seek the face of God. Some ministries do 21 others do 40. Some do a Daniel fast😁, or Millenial's fast😅, others do Jesus😅, and in Extreme cases a Moses fast😂.

🍏 DANIEL: Eating no "pleasant bread" (i.e no meat and delicacies). But instead easy to prepare and digest vegetables and fruits. Lots of water to help reduce portions and keep the fasting body detoxed.

🍶 JESUS: Eating no food just water... Lot's of water, to keep the fasting body detoxed.

📺 MILLENIAL'S: No TV, magazines, novels,  social media and another addictive content that doesn't build the Spirit up and using that time in God's word and prayer.

MOSES: no food no water for 40days... on a mountain😝. NB: Moses didn't plan this fast. He went up the mountain to talk to God when he came down he hears 40days had passed😅😂😂. For that reason this is not recommended at all because many develop complications after that or even die due to accumulated toxins.

None is more right than the other. Fasting is really a personal revelation (not ignoring the instructions given by your Church leader). Start with what you have a better understanding of (NB: I say understanding, not comfortable). I don't think fasting should be comfortable. It's a sacrifice, c'amon... My thoughts though...

I've read several books on fasting my favourite ones being:
📚 Fasting by Jenzeten Franklin
📚 Quantum Fasting- Food for thought by L. Emerson Ferrell
📚 A common sense guide to fasting by Kenneth E. Hagin

No. 3 is my most favourite. It's  47 pages long and a 2hr read for a veery slow reader. Feel free to inbox me for access to a free softcopy (but first you'll have to buy an Andika'mi notebook😝... Just kidding— Freely given, freely we give.)

It will answer so many questions people ask like 'is boiled egg or milk allowed during Daniel fast. Or, is chips and chapatti a vegetable😅?'

😂😂 sorry avocado haters

Fasting is the one time you get to prove to your body that you don't live on bread alone... (Maybe even at all for some of us😉), but by the Word.

I got delivered from many-questions-on-fasting syndrome😂 one time I 'seriously' participated on the 21day one my Church instructed. At the end of that period I noticed I hadn't heard God at all. I had just shed off the extra fat and gotten smoother skin😂. I got so annoyed I restarted the fast on my own. In 5 days my life turned around and hearing the voice of God became an everyday thing and not a once in a year thing. God had to force me to break that fast maany days later because I didn't feel like stopping😂.

I pray for you reading this, that God will give you your own personal revelation on fasting — even right now!

1. That fasting will be something you look forward to and whose end you don't look forward to, and if you do, it's only to count how much God has revealed during that period.

2. Even better, I pray you get revelation of this thing that Kenneth E Hagin calls a fasted life😍...

3. I also pray for you to experience the blessings of fasting listed in Isaiah 58...

🎊 Your light shall break forth like the morning
🎊 Your healing shall spring forth speedily,
🎊 Your righteousness shall go before you;
🎊 The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
🎊 You shall call, and the Lord will answer;

4. Finally, may you remember the P-word that comes before this F- word (to the pure all things are pure😉): PRAYER! It's the reason why we fast in the first place.
If you study eating you will find that most people spend 3-5hours a day on eating! No matter how quickly you usually eat; and for some, less than 1hr on the Word and prayer.
i.e:

🍴 1 hour of mental energy planning what to eat
🍲 30 minutes to 1 hour going to shop for what to eat
🍜 1-2 hrs preparing what to eat
🍝 5-30 minutes eating it: I use 30-45🙈
💧 30 minutes Washing those (greesy) dishes
😴 1 hour of drowsiness because you may have overeaten😅...
😨 Worst case scenario, taking care of that stomach upset😅
🕛 Now let's plan the next meal...

Did I say 5hrs? Correction: it's every waking hour😅😂😂...

I'm serious if this is a bird please let us know in the comments.

Last year, a Buddy and I discovered a secret to reduce this time, and even money costs, to have a more effective fasting. I won't share the secret here because I'm avoiding giving someone a new "fasting rule"... Plus I called it a secret yoh! So, si you know the drill: look for me aside (but first you purchase an Andika... 😝just kidding)...

Another question I get: What if you live with person(s) who don't have the same revelation of fasting as you e.g children or husband or parents; yet you are always on kitchen duty. (Wo)man of God, please stick to your house duty and position your heart to hear God even in that kitchen. God will honour your humility and obedience.

When you look at Bible women God always visited them in their places of duty: Rebecca was fetching water, Mrs. Manoah was on house duty, Mary... God will guide you into ways  to create more quiet time with him where necessary. A lot of my best posts and ideas were born in the kitchen😁 Also, consider reading that book by Kenneth E. Hagin.

As I close, this is out of topic but let me just share: I'm thinking of doing the big chop (hair tings) and it is not to create more quiet time during the upcoming fasts. So, this is me just clearing the air😉.
Oh! And that Andika'mi thing👆: everytime my phone rings or I get a message notification, I find myself hoping it's M-pesa or a notebook order... 😅🙈😂😂 I know you've been there...

Anyway, do you have any questions you  once had about fasting? What answers, tips and hacks have you found? Please feel free to share in the comments so we grow together in this journey.

  2. This is good!
    You have said it well.
Fasting should be from a personal revelation.
