WRITE THE VISION DOWN II: WHY WE WRITE

Dear Diarytoday I had the best day of my life...

Dear diarytoday I got this great idea that could change the world...

Dear diary, tomorrow at 7pmI'm meeting up with the God's Artwork team😉...

Keeping of diaries and journals is not something that occurs naturally to many of us. I remember my first encounter with diary keeping was with  the cartoon: Bubbles of Power Puff Girls😅... Or one of those cartoons... And it looked like such a cool thing to do. I tried for a while then got tired. Actually, went blank... And the next time I remembered about my diary was a year later...

In highschool, I was able to journal abit more often but this time the entries started with 'Dear God...' rather than 'Dear Diary...' And that was mostly to express the fears and pains I was going through... And it helped. Greatly.

In campus I have found myself journal at least twice a month and this year alone, I have journaled at least 4 times a week... Sometimes everyday... Well, I have to... Coz that's what helps me get content to share on this blog😝... But honestly, journaling is the best thing that has happened to my life... After salvation😉.

A while ago, I shared a photo of a page from my journal for a challenge dubbed #myNewCulture... Someone then suggested I do a post or more on the revelation behind how I journal and how one can start if interested... I will do this in a series of posts since journaling is quite a wide topic and different styles work for different people.

I'll explain later what I was doing here but it's basically a breakdown of the Lord's prayer

Understanding why you want to/feel that you should be journaling is what will keep you doing it long after you start. So, in this post we will look at why we write/ the benefits of journaling even as we answer the question: 'Is journaling for Christians?'

📝 We Write to remember
It seems as though God has never dealt with a man without giving him a 'set of words to remember.' And what better way to store the words we need to remember than through writing. Scientists have uncovered that, people remember:
  • 10% of what they READ
  • 20% of what they HEAR
  • 30% of what they SEE
  • 50% of what they SEE and HEAR
  • 70% of what they WRITE and
  • 90% of what they DO

😅 best verse I could find

📝 Kings write
In the new covenant we are considered Royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9)... Kings and priests (Rev 1:6)... Then, in Deuteronomy 17:18-20 we see a law that required Kings to rewrite the Torah (the 5 law books) for their keep. From research I found that this was not a duty they could delegate. They did it themselves.

And when he sits on his royal throne, he shall write for himself a copy of this law in a book, out of what is before the Levitical priests.
And he shall keep it with him, and he shall read in it all the days of his life, that he may learn [reverently] to fear the Lord his God, by keeping all the words of this law and these statutes and doing them,

We further see King Solomon write a lot. In fact, one of his journals became the book of Ecclesiastes... King Xerxers😅 aka Queen Esther's husband, had a scribe who kept his diary for him and one day it was read to him and it led to Mordecai's promotion.

If you consider yourself a king, you write😁.

📝 We write because we are written😅:
The word of God says that we are written epistles known and read of all men... (2 Cor 3:2) How can we not write?

Christianity is a word-centered faith. God created the world through words (Hebrews 11:3); 10 times Genesis 1 tell us “God said”, and as he said, it was... God’s own Son is called his Word (John 1:1). And we ourselves are born of the Word when we get born again (1Peter 1:23).

There are many reasons why Christians write and should write... 📝 God our father writes... And we tend to do what Daddy does😁... But I picked these few reasons as they relate with journaling and diary keeping.

Do you write? What reason has kept you writing. Feel free to share in the comments section below.

If you were blessed by this post and know a loved one who would be blessed too be sure to invite them here so that we can grow together. Also, let me know what you may want me to share concerning journaling in the upcoming posts.
